Confused? Hopefully this will help.
What is this website about?
This website was started last year for E3 2014. The main goal of this website is to provide all the major announcements made at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). As an avid gamer, I found it incredibly frustrating to have to sift through various gaming sites and do my own research to figure out what trailers were shown, which platforms the game is coming out on, etc.
This year, with the help of my friend, we expanded on last years website and we hope we can help you get all of that information from E3 in one convenient place.
Why did you add a donation button?
I initially wasn't going to add anything of the sort but then I realized I greatly underestimated how many people would be using this site concurrently. It's basically a donation box to try to offload some server cost. I'm paying for any costs coming from this out of pocket, so if you enjoy the site i'd appreciate the donation or you can still keep enjoying the site and not donate which is also fine by me.
I do apologize for any downtime.
The streaming links are not working. Please fix it.
I will be constantly updating the streaming links as the event goes on. If you find the links are not working, then please check back in a little while or clear your browser cache. If you are the impatient type, here are some direct links to places that will be streaming.
There appears to be multiple tiles for some games. What gives?
If you notice a game shows up multiple times through out the grid- that is no mistake. Tiles are not added to the site based by game but rather chronologically. For example: Bethesda released a trailer for Fallout 4 one week prior to E3, which I then made a tile for. Bethesda is bound to share more Fallout 4 footage during E3, this will get a new tile since it came at a later date.
I have chosen to do it this way because some games get coverage multiple times through out E3 and this insures that people can sort the tiles by Newest to see the latest game announcement.
Do the search field and filters options work in tandem?
Nope. The search field is there as a short-cut to users who wish to skip the filtering and narrow down the results based on a games title. Once a filter option is clicked the tiles do not display the search field results unless you go back to the field to type in a new query.
What is up with the color scheme on the tiles?
The color scheme is used to display which conference the announcements were made at. As an example: Bethesda released a trailer for Fallout 4 a week prior to E3, and since this was outside of a conference the tile gets a neutral black color. If Bethesda shows more footage of Fallout 4 during the Bethesda Press Conference, then the new tile will be colored according to the color assigned to their conference. Below you can checkout what conference each color represents.
- Bethesda
- Microsoft
- EA
- Ubisoft
- Sony
- Nintendo
- Square Enix
- PC Gaming Show
- Non Conference
I found a bug on the site. Can you fix it?
We will try our best to optimize the website and fix bugs. If you find a bug, please email us at contact@novasans.co. Please be as descriptive as possible as to what device/browser/conditions you are experiencing the bug in.
As a disclaimer: Both my friend and I are self-taught developers so we apologize in advance if there is something we cannot get sorted out in a timely manner.
Why is *Insert Game Trailer Here* not on the website?
There are lots of announcements and videos being released throughout E3 and I am 100% sure I will not catch all of them. If you find something missing just let me know at contact@novasans.co or tweet us @e3recap.
Cool site but I think it can be even better if there was...
We are always open to feedback and criticism. Send your thoughts on what you think could be added or handled better to contact@novasans.co or tweet us @e3recap.
